BioThane® is a premium coated webbing that combines the classic look and feel of leather with the practicality needed for everyday adventures. It’s waterproof, odour-resistant, incredibly durable and simply wipes clean.

Unlike traditional leather or nylon, BioThane® won’t rot, stretch, absorb water or hold onto smells. Mud, rain, swimming and everyday dirt are no problem — simply wipe or rinse it clean and it’s ready to go again.

Absolutely. BioThane® is smooth, flexible and lightweight, making it comfortable for everyday wear. Its non-absorbent surface stays soft and flexible even when wet, without becoming heavy or waterlogged.

The smooth finish is also great for longer coats, helping to reduce snagging, matting and rubbing compared with rougher materials.

Cleaning BioThane® couldn’t be easier. For everyday dirt, simply wipe it clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. For muddier adventures, rinse it under the tap or give it a quick soak in warm soapy water, then rinse and leave to dry naturally.

If your collar has been used in the sea, always rinse the hardware with fresh water afterwards to help remove salt and keep it looking its best.

BioThane® is known for its vibrant, long-lasting colour and is designed to stand up to everyday outdoor use. Like any material, some shades — particularly brighter and neon colours — may gradually show signs of wear or fading with heavy use and prolonged exposure to sunlight.

To keep your collar looking its best, simply clean it regularly and avoid contact with harsh chemicals, solvents and insect repellents.

BioThane® can be a great choice for dogs with sensitive skin. Its smooth, non-porous surface doesn’t absorb water, dirt or odours and is easy to keep clean, helping to reduce the build-up that can sometimes irritate sensitive skin.

Every dog is different, though, so if your dog has a known allergy or skin condition, we recommend checking with your vet before choosing any collar material.

As each made-to-measure collar is handmade specifically to the measurements you provide, it cannot usually be returned or exchanged if the incorrect size has been ordered. We recommend checking your measurements carefully and using our Measuring Guide before placing your order.

If your collar doesn’t fit, please get in touch. Where possible, we may be able to alter or resize it for you, and we’ll always do our best to help.

The best width depends on your dog’s size, build and the look you prefer. We offer 6 widths, from lightweight 9mm collars for tiny dogs through to substantial 38mm collars for larger breeds.

Our standard hardware is ideal for everyday walks and is available in a choice of finishes to complement your BioThane® colour.

For dogs that regularly swim, spend time at the beach or need something more adventure-proof, choose our Stainless Collection or our lightweight plastic & stainless-steel combination. Both offer excellent corrosion resistance and are ideal for wet, muddy and salty adventures.

Very strong. Genuine BioThane® Standard has a rated break strength of up to 1,000 lb (454 kg) per inch of width, making it exceptionally strong for its weight.

Of course, a finished collar is only as strong as its complete construction — including the hardware, fastenings and fixings. That’s why we build each collar appropriately for its size, using additional rivets on our larger collars to increase strength and security where it’s needed most.
